Blogging Goals for 2008
As a blogger here are some factors that you can use to set your goals:
daily unique visitors
daily page views
RSS subscribers
number of weekly posts
average number of comments received per post
Alexa or Compete rank
Technorati rank
Google Pagerank
monthly revenues
backlinks
search engine ranking positions
popularity on social bookmarking sites (i.e. stories featured on Digg)
popularity on online communities (i.e. MyBlogLog)
So said in the article bearing the title of Group Writing Project: 2008 Blogging Goals, published at Dailyblogtips
I am not the sort of person who would set plans, goals or new year's resolution. I hadn't any thoughts on the position of this blog. I just blog, and from time to time I add some new stuffs to the blog. Simply put, I grow and the blog evolves, or changes.
Looking back ...
I started writing Online Journals at Zorpia in the beginning and I was writing diaries which I realised that they mattered only to myself at the particular moment I wrote about them. They meant nothing for others, and now they are meaningless to me.
I switched to Blogger in late June this year. I needed a new start, I need a new blog serving the purpose of sharing my photos was the only thing on my mind back then. There was no planning.
My Goal:
I would like to see my blog a popular one, but instead of stating measurable things like those listed in the factors above, I think it would be better to focus on
improving my techniques, my shots. Since this blog was created to share my photos.
Shots taken without any reason are like diaries, meaning nothing to no one at the time they were published and meaningless to myself after a while.
So my goal - for 2008 and on - would be to try taking every shot for a reason, to develop my own style and try making shots that would have visual impact on viewers. It is becoming my convictions that only shots meeting these criteria would be unforgettable.

kriz great goal for 2008, and I will be here to have always my thumbs up. BTW I like the way you said: writing for myself - this is how I felt when I first started blogging, for the first month I had almost no comments at all, and sometimes I would send my hobby to send me a comment so I felt better, lol. Great accomplishment in 2007 on your part. Well done, Anna :)
Thanks, happy holiday Anna.
